Believe It or Not

What are the Church’s core beliefs?

God has always existed – the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit – three yet somehow one.

(Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

They created everything. The first couple, Adam and Eve, had a perfect relationship with God and each other. Then the Devil tempted them to disobey God. They chose to sin and all hell broke loose. The result of sin was death – physical and spiritual separation from God.

(Genesis 3:1–6)

But all along, God had a plan:
Jesus Christ, the Son, would become God/Man.
Jesus was born of the virgin Mary; lived a sinless life; died on the cross and shed His blood to provide the forgiveness of sin; was buried and raised from the dead on the third day. As a result, eternal and abundant life with God is available as a gift – free for the asking. To accept this offer, talk to God and admit you are
a sinner and cannot save yourself; believe and trust that Jesus Christ alone paid for your sin; and receive His total payment and forgiveness for your sin.

(Luke 1:34-35;Acts 16:31;Eph 2:8-9;Rom 10:9-10,13;)

Believe it or not, receiving this gift of mercy and grace would make you part of God’s family – the Church. The Holy Spirit would now live in you – for good.

Now What?

You’d get involved in a local Bible-believing church. You’d go public and get baptized. By yielding control of your life to the Lord Jesus Christ until He returns, the Holy Spirit would begin to help you grow up spiritually through Bible study, prayer, worship, loving and serving God and others, and participating in the Lord’s Supper to remember His sacrifice.

The ultimate goal: learning to follow Christ so that you could lead others to Him and teaching them to follow Him as well – disciples making disciples. The result – your whole life would bring glory to the God of the Universe. Believe it or not, all of this is in the Bible. The Bible is absolute truth — the Word of God.
